Baby Carrier - Creating a Bond Between Parent and Child

The award-winning Izmi Essential Carrier is a soft fabric baby carrier that allows parents to enjoy the comfort and intimacy of a fabric sling, with the ease and comfort of a buckle carrier.

Offering three different carrying positions and the ability to breastfeed inside the carrier, the Izmi Essential Carrier is perfect for hands-free walks out and about or around the house. The Essential Carrier can also be used from birth, adjusting comfortably around your growing baby.

Izmi Essential Carrier
Comfortable for Both Parents and Child

The Izmi Essential Carrier allows you to carry your baby safely and securely in three comfortable positions, including: parent-facing front carry, forward-facing front carry, and hip carry when your little one has full head control (approximately 6 months onwards).

Cleverly designed to adjust, fit, and modify around your growing baby while keeping you comfortable.

Fully supportive, wrap-like design distributes your baby’s weight evenly to reduce pressure on your back.

Medical Benefits

Baby-wearing has been found to benefit socio-cognitive development, as your baby can interact with the environment around them, and the upright positive provides good head, spine, and hip support to aid optimal physical development.

The closeness of baby-wearing helps caregivers easily monitor their baby’s changing needs and is also known to release the hormone Oxytocin, commonly known as the happy hormone, which helps the bond between you and your baby.

Hip healthy design keeps babies in the best possible position, with an adjustable seat to provide the best support from birth onwards.

Frequently Asked Questions

Breastfeeding with your baby in a sling or carrier is not always possible for everyone and will depend on your baby’s stage and their preferred feeding position, your body shape, and the positions possible in the carrier you are using. Do give it a try if you’d like to, but don’t be discouraged if it doesn’t work easily for you at first.

You may find it works better when your baby is older. With smaller babies who can’t support and control their own head, you can use a carrier as a breastfeeding aid. For most people, it is not safe to attempt hands-free breastfeeding with a very small baby. You will still need to use a hand or arm to support your baby’s head when they are feeding.

0-4 months: Parent-facing front carry (your baby cannot support their head unaided. Your carrier should support their spine at least to the top of their neck).

4 – 6 months: Side/hip facing or parent-facing front carry (your baby can stabilise their head unaided as you move around. Your carrier should support their spine at least to the top of their shoulders).

6 – 9 months: Forward front facing; side/hip facing; parent-front facing; or on your back (your baby has good torso control and can sit unaided). Your carrier should support their spine at least to their armpits).

9+ months: Forward front facing; side/hip facing; parent-front facing; or on your back (your baby is mobile and growing heavier). Your carrier should support their spine at least to their armpits).

Carrying your baby in a baby carrier, sling or backpack gives you the advantage of having your hands free, and most babies like being able to see the world from up high. If you use carriers, slings and backpacks the right way, they’re safe and practical ways to get around with your baby.
